Jim Hawkins was only 39 years old when diagnosed with non-small, squamous-cell lung cancer on June 9, 2005.  Jim was a former autocross champion and mechanical engineer.  He had finished building his dream racecar in March 2005 and attended racing school in April 2005 to fulfill his need for driving fast legally, and his dream of being a racecar driver.  He was only able to run two races, both of which he did very well, before suffering a seizure. Only days after the seizure, he was diagnosed

with Stage 4 lung cancer, including brain metastasis.

He was never allowed to drive again.

However, the one thing that made him fight the disease as intently as he did was his determination to get back

on the racetrack this year.

That was not to be, but through Dan Criss and his love for Jim and for racing, Jim WILL be back out on the racetrack this year!

We hope this fundraiser will be a great way to remember Jim, to know he's still out there racing,

and to raise money for lung cancer -

the cancer that kills the most Americans.
