Race Weekend Summaries  (2006 Season)

Race Weekend 1:  May 6 - 7

Dan Criss performed brilliantly at the first race at Waterford Hills Race Track benefiting the Racing For Jim fundraiser for Lung Cancer Alliance. The weekend got off to a rocky start with the car stalling only 2 laps into qualifying with electrical problems. This resulted in a 20th qualifying grid position for the Saturday Class race. Dan spectacularly fought his way back through the field to finish in 4th place (7 points) in the Saturday Class Race.  On Sunday, Dan finishing to a podium finish in 3rd place (8 points).  In Sunday afternoon's Feature Race Dan wrapped up the weekend festivities with another 3rd place (points are not awarded for the exhibition race) podium finish.  Although Dan was disappointed with the start of the weekend, everyone was pleased with the 15 points Dan earned.  AND, it sure did setup for some exciting races over the weekend.  GREAT JOB DAN!!!

Race Weekend 2:  June 3 - 4

Dan did a spectacular job in the qualifying race on Saturday, running a 1:21 and qualifying in 4th place.  But as soon as he crossed the finish line the transmission blew.  He was towed back to the pits and couldn't run the next race for points (0 points).  Dan and John worked all afternoon and night to replace the transmission, and made it back Sunday to race the second race for points.  Dan started from the back (just like last time!) and secured a 5th place finish (5 points).  In the feature race on Sunday he finished 3rd (points are not awarded for the exhibition race), securing a podium position.  That makes 20 points so far for Dan this season. Another spectacular comeback Dan!!!

Race Weekend 3:  June 24 - 25

Another exciting weekend at the track!  Dan didn't finish the qualifying race because the exhaust pipe came loose during the race.  Though he didn't finish the qualifying race, he did grid in 13th position for the first race due to the fact the computers tracking the lap times crashed and the drivers were gridded according to points received so far this season.  In the first race for points Dan fought hard and brought it back starting in 13th and finishing 4th (7 points)!  In the second race for points on Sunday Dan started and finished 4th (another 7 points), and ran his fastest lap time ever at Waterford Hills!  In the feature race Sunday afternoon, Dan moved to 2nd place after a multi-car crash on turn three knocked the guys in 2nd and 3rd position off the track.  Dan sailed through the carnage and had secured a 2nd place finish when in the 8th lap he was black flagged for sound and wasn't able to finish the race.  We know Dan is frustrated by this, but we're all behind him!  Awesome job as usual Dan!!!

Race Weekend 4:  July 29 - 30

Due to family illness, Dan will not be racing this weekend.  Vaughan Scott will be racing his car in Jim's name for the weekend.  Points for racing4jim will be accumulated by him.  To find out more about Vaughan, check out the Drivers Page.  During the 9th lap of the first race, Vaughan's car had technical difficulties.  He was unable to finish the first race, but collected 3 points for the race.  He was unable to compete in the remaining races for the weekend.  Thanks for the effort, Vaughan, and hope your back on the track soon.

Race Weekend 5:  August 26-27
Vaughan Scott will be racing his car in Jim's name for the weekend.  Points for racing4jim will be accumulated by him.  The weekend weather was iffy throughout, with occasional mist and full, gloomy cloud cover. Yet despite a few race groups getting hit with wet conditions, we were clear and never raced in anything but pretty dry conditions.  The qualifying race went really well and Vaughan ended up gridded 2nd.  It was a great race and Vaughan held on to finish in second place (9 points).  During Sunday's race Vaughan was gridded 2nd again and fought to catch up to the BMW in front of him.  The second half of the race really began to fall to our favor, as we slowly but steadily reeled the BMW back in. Then we got into trouble again, trying too hard, sliding wide and dropping the outside rear wheel into the dirt.  We saved it from a spin, but lost ground and ended up finishing 1.4 seconds behind the BMW, a solid second place finish (9 points).  Thanks so much Vaughan....  GREAT job!!!
Check out the pics for the weekend.

Race Weekend 6:  September 23-24
Vaughan completed the last racing weekend for the Racing4Jim team.  The qualifying race went well with Vaughan starting the Saturday race in the pole (1st place) position.  The race went great and Vaughan's #77 stayed and finished in 1st place (12 points) - leading to Sammi's first victory lap!  The Sunday race was very exciting with Vaughan and Doug battling for first place.  The lead changed a couple of times with a a bit of banging doors and rubbing paint.  In the end Doug won out and received the checkered flag by only a few feet (only 2/10ths of a second).  What a great race it was with Vaughan bringing home 9 points for his second place finish.  The excitement continued with the feature race (points do not count for fund raiser) on Sunday.  Again there was a great fight during the race for victory, and a whole lot of bumping was going on with a yellow Spitfire in the middle of it all.  It came down to the last lap and Doug beat out Vaughan for 1st by only a few feet - only .017 seconds this time.  Doesn't get much closer than that!  All in all, a truly fast and fun weekend and perfect close to an exciting season....
